Braised Turnips or Radishes with Poppyseed and Nut Crumble

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 turnips or a bunch of radishes, sliced into discs ½-inch thick
  • Water
  • Juice of one lemon
  • Cleanse nut crackers, in crumbles (see recipe)
  • 1 tbsp poppy seeds
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt, to taste.

In a saucepan, heat olive oil over medium head. Place turnip slices in hot oil and allow them to brown a bit on the edges. Pour in 2 cups water and the lemon juice, and allow to boil out. While turnips are boiling, in another pan heat a drizzle oil and add the garlic, poppy seeds, salt, and nut crackers. Stir to combine, until they look like breadcrumbs. Once water has boiled out of turnips, allow them to sear slightly on the dry pan. Place turnips on a plate and top with crumble.
