ALERT. We only have three more days of cleansing left, and one of them isn’t even an eating day! Time flies I don’t get it.
I’m already thinking of different parts of my cleanse I will continue to practice post 10yamim. The biggest dietary change for me during the 10 days is the restriction of added sugars. It means I can’t eat cookies when people bring them to school, and that I have to be a bit creative to get my sweet-tooth fix. Post cleanse, I want to stay off processed sweeteners (white sugar, sugar substitutes) unless there’s something really special I want to eat.
Also, my meditation practice. I don’t think I will be able to continue with it. For a whole 3 out of 10 mins of my mediation last night, I thought about different uses for almond butter. It’s been a good challenge, but feels like a waste of time. I will see it through the whole 10 days to see if my feelings change, but ughhhhh it’s too boring.
Lastly, below is the recipe for breakfast this morning. The credit for this concept goes to Arielle – she often inspired my breakfasts when we lived together in DC.
Golden Fall garnish
- 1/3 c pumpkin puree (it’s everywhere this season!)
- 1 tsp almond butter
- a bit of orange zest
- pinch of fresh nutmeg
- dash of cinnamon
- chopped dried fruits (this morning I used dates and persimmons)
- chopped toasted nuts of choice
It looks like baby food and/or poop, but it’s great as a garnish for/stirred into oats with soy milk or plain yogurt.
